Integrated Bioanalytical Systems Research Group

Our interdisciplinary group specializes in the development of highly multiplex bioanalytical tools and methods, primarily in the context of lab-on-a-chip and microfluidics paradigms.

Our main research focus is on providing clinical medicine with analytical tools for diagnostics, theranostics, and biomedical research.

Main Research Areas

иконки x-bio_Иконка_1.jpgDiagnostic systems: development of chip-oriented highly multiplex diagnostic tools that can simultaneously determine a set of parameters. Our methodological priorities are set on flow-through methods and on the image analysis of analytical matrices. Our chip engineering is based on lithography and 3D printing, while our data analysis uses algorithms and software developed internally, by our research group. A top-priority clinical task is the diagnosis of tick-borne diseases and COVID-like infections.

Development of tools that simultaneously analyze Genotype, Transcriptome, Phenotype, and Functional properties (a.k.a. GTPF analysis) of cells, mitochondria, exosomes, and other particles, containing polynucleotides in bulk. Integration of cytometry with methods allowing microdroplet coding of individual particle polynocleotides, such as DropSeq.

иконки x-bio_Иконка_3.jpgBioFabLab is an educational institution that produces commercial products, trains instrument-making professionals, commercializes inventions, and supports instrument-making import-substituting startups. For example, GTPF analysis’ «by-products» are Russian-made cytometers, FACS, and multiplex particles for microdroplet coding and analytical matrices.

Additional Research Areas:

Creation of hollow, magnetic, plasmonic, and fluorescent nanoparticles and their assemblies for drug delivery and theranostics;
Electromagnetic manipulation of particles in liquid and gas media: electrostatic filters and classifier machine. Dielectrophoresis, magnetophoresis, capillary and free-flow electrophoresis. Optical manipulation. Electroosmotics.
